High-Precision Calibration Mirror Design

Optical measurement systems such as SOFAST 2.0 can rapidly produce high-resolution slope maps. How accurate are these systems? At Sandia we have designed a high-precision reference mirror for cross-checking these complex metrology systems. The mirror is a solid piece of glass, has high dimensional stability, and is manufactured using optical imaging methods to achieve very high accuracy (evaluation still in progress). OpenCSP includes complete design and vendor information for this mirror, enabling others to easily replicate it. The custom-designed case is important to making the mirror operationally useful, and OpenCSP also includes design information for this case and its mounting adaptor.
